garden 2011

I didn't post much about our garden last year.
It was a great first year. We had lots of vegetables and no animals.
We are gearing up for this year's garden; soil went in today and we will be planting soon.
In central Ohio, the rule of thumb is to wait until Mother's Day before you plant outdoors (most plants).
I'm itching to plant. I love walking out back to get ingredients for lunch and dinner. YUM!

Here are some pictures from last year:

 soil

Seeds: Spinach, lettuce, carrots, cucumber

seeing growth was exciting!

 L to R: toms, cucumber, carrots, spinach/lettuce (didn't work out) :(

Pretty Petunias.
I loved these petunias and their beautiful color! They were planted Memorial Day weekend and lasted well-into August. Notice the cucumbers getting all up in their space.

3 tomato plants. We had lots and lots of toms!

Wait until you see what we have going on/in this year!

2 months!

Lily is 2 months today!

About me: 2 Month Edition:
  • I weigh 9 lbs 8 oz. I am a growing girl!
  • I just started wearing my fuzzibunz and barely fit into my 'old' newborn diapers. My bod fits into 0-3 month clothes (almost a squeeze with my big diaper bum).
  • My eyes are pretty blue (who knows what they will be). My hair...is brown but definitely has red hues in natural light. woohoo!
  • A daily "schedule" is something like this:
    •  A morning nap (or naps)
    • A long afternoon nap
    • Awake from 6-9pm and then I sleep until 2:00-2:30am.
  • I eat every 2.5-3 hours except my long stretch through the night.
  • As of recent, I started smiling at my parents(!!) and mimicking what they are doing i.e. sticking out my tongue when they stick their tongues out at me.
  • My movement is still very robotic but I am learning how to use my arms and legs more. I've even hit my daddy with my right hook. Sorry, Daddy! My mommy thinks I am a squirmy wormy because when she holds me up I bob my head sharply to the left and right. I like to see everything that's going on.

no pins necessary

We decided to cloth diaper Lily (and our future children, Lord willing). I'm sure most of you immediately think of white cloths and pins and who knows what else.
Cloth diapers have come a long way! With the encouragement from my SIL, Jenny, I chose to use the brand fuzzibunz in their style called "one size elite". These diapers allow Lily to wear them from infant to potty training with a few simple changes to the diapers. It IS extra work but it WILL save us money and is much better for the environment.
Aren't they pretty?

Every time I see at the brown diaper I think of the m&m commercial about the m&m being naked because she is brown...anyone? maybe it's just because all the other colors are "pretty" :)

a trip to Chicago

Lily and I just got back from visiting my grandparents in Chicago.
We stayed with them last week and got some much needed R&R! (Thank you!!)

Lily's first flight. She did wonderful!!
We flew from Columbus to O'hare and my grandparents met us at baggage. I am so thankful the first flight was from Columbus to O'hare because when I got to O'hare I was a little overwhelmed with all of the business folks who were, well, in a hurry.
Me and my baby, we took our time getting where we needed to go.

Meeting Great-Grampa and Great-Gramma!

Lily got a bath in great-grandma's sink. Great-Aunt Denise stopped by to help!

She did meet Great-Uncle Steve too (sorry, I don't have any pics)

all cleaned up and tired after her bath

A little late on the band-wagon, I started reading The Hunger Games.
I openly admit that I am addicted, I just finished yesterday and am going to start book 2 soon.

Lily shared in my excitement. ha!

I have lots of pictures to share but my computer has been a little wonky and I might have to take it in to apple to get a cat scan or something. ugh.
